How We Publish Medicare Information

Editorial Standards and Corrections

How Thompson Medicare Brokerage researches, reviews, updates and corrects the educational information published on this website.

Our Commitment

Clear information with a real person accountable for it

Our goal is to make complicated Medicare topics easier to understand without hiding important limitations or presenting general information as personal advice.

Benjamin Thompson is responsible for the educational content published by Thompson Medicare Brokerage. He reviews and approves each educational page before publication and remains accountable for corrections and substantive updates.

Benjamin is the founder and owner of Thompson Medicare Brokerage, an independent licensed Medicare broker with more than seven years of Medicare experience. His National Producer Number is 19278689. You can read about his background and verify his current state licenses on the About Benjamin Thompson page.

Research and Verification

How we develop educational content

We begin with the question a Medicare beneficiary, caregiver or family member is trying to answer. We then separate general federal rules from details that can vary by state, year, plan or personal circumstances.

  1. Start with authoritative sources

We prefer primary sources such as Medicare.gov, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the Social Security Administration, the Electronic Code of Federal Regulations, state insurance and Medicaid agencies, official plan documents and current carrier or provider directories.

  2. Check the context

We identify when a rule, cost, deadline, provider network, formulary or benefit is tied to a particular year, state or plan. When the answer depends on individual facts, we say so.

  3. Review for usefulness and accuracy

Benjamin reviews the page for factual accuracy, plain-language clarity and practical usefulness. Automated output is not treated as an authoritative source.

  4. Link readers to supporting material

When useful, our guides include an Official Sources section so readers can review the government guidance, regulations or plan materials behind the explanation.

Tools and Human Review

How assisted drafting is used

Research, outlining, drafting, editing, formatting and quality-control tools—including automated or AI-assisted tools—may be used in our publishing process. These tools can help organize information and identify areas that need closer review, but they do not replace Benjamin’s judgment or responsibility.

Human accountability

Benjamin decides what is published and reviews the final page for accuracy, context and appropriateness.

Source verification

Time-sensitive or consequential claims are checked against current authoritative sources rather than accepted from an automated draft.

No invented authority

Automated tools are not cited as evidence, and their output is not presented as government guidance, legal authority or plan documentation.

Review and Updates

Keeping time-sensitive information current

Medicare rules, costs, enrollment guidance, plan benefits, formularies and provider networks can change. Where appropriate, pages display a publication or review date. We revisit content when new plan-year guidance, a material rule change or a confirmed error makes an update necessary.

  • Current official rules and plan documents control when they differ from an older page.
  • Plan availability, premiums, benefits, drug coverage and provider participation should be verified for the person, location and coverage year involved.
  • A page’s review date means it was reviewed as of that date; it is not a guarantee that every external source or plan detail will remain unchanged.

Important: Website content is general education. It is not medical, legal or tax advice and does not replace an individual review of current Medicare, Medicaid or plan materials.

Corrections

Tell us when something may be wrong or unclear

Accuracy matters. If you find a possible factual error, broken source, unclear explanation or information that may be out of date, email benjamin@thompsonmedicare.com.

Please include the page URL, the specific statement in question and, if available, the source you believe supports a correction. Benjamin will review the concern against current authoritative information and correct confirmed errors.

Independence and Compensation

Educational conclusions are not sold to carriers

Thompson Medicare Brokerage may receive compensation from an insurance company after an enrollment. A carrier does not pay to control the conclusions of our educational pages. Benjamin determines what is published.

Being independent does not mean Thompson Medicare Brokerage represents every plan or insurance company. We disclose that limitation and encourage people to consider their complete set of options. For a fuller explanation, read How Medicare Brokers Get Paid.
