Medicare Guidance and Advocacy

Medicare Broker Services Made Simple

I help you understand Medicare, compare the insurance options I represent and choose coverage based on your doctors, prescriptions, budget and personal priorities—not a one-size-fits-all sales pitch.

Medicare Broker Services: plan documents, a magnifying glass, checklist and year-round support headset.

Medicare Guidance Built Around You

Medicare coverage should fit your life—not force your life to fit an insurance plan.

Before comparing plans, I take time to understand your health care providers, prescriptions, finances, travel needs and preferences. Then we compare the options available through Thompson Medicare Brokerage and discuss the tradeoffs clearly.

If you are approaching 65 or preparing to retire, start with the Medicare enrollment, Turning 65 and retirement guide library to organize the timing questions before comparing coverage.

You remain in control. My role is to research, explain and advise. You choose whether to enroll and which coverage best fits your needs.

Medicare Insurance Services

I assist with the major private insurance products that work with Medicare, including Medicare Advantage, Medigap and Part D.

Medicare Advantage Plans

Medicare Advantage, also called Part C, is a private-plan alternative for receiving your Medicare Part A and Part B benefits. Most plans include Part D prescription coverage, while some do not.

Plans may include provider networks, copayments, prior authorization requirements and a yearly medical maximum out-of-pocket limit. Some also offer additional dental, vision, hearing, fitness or over-the-counter benefits.

Medicare Supplement Insurance

Medicare Supplement insurance, commonly called Medigap, works alongside Original Medicare to help cover certain deductibles, copayments and coinsurance.

Medigap plans do not normally include outpatient prescription drug coverage, so beneficiaries who want drug coverage generally purchase a separate Part D plan.

Medicare Part D Plans

Stand-alone Part D plans provide outpatient prescription coverage for people using Original Medicare and certain Medicare plan types.

I compare your medications, dosage, formulary tier, pharmacies, deductible and estimated annual cost—not just the plan’s monthly premium.

Dental, Vision and Hearing Coverage

Original Medicare generally does not provide routine dental, vision or hearing coverage. Separate insurance products may be available for beneficiaries who want additional protection.

Some Medicare Advantage plans also include limited benefits in these areas, but coverage amounts, networks and exclusions vary considerably.

Before comparing these benefits, review what Original Medicare, Medigap and Medicare Advantage may cover .

Ask about additional coverage →
Medigap and Medicare Advantage are different coverage paths. You cannot use a Medigap policy to pay Medicare Advantage copayments, and you generally should not maintain both products at the same time. I will help you understand the differences before you make a change.

What I Review Before Recommending a Plan

Your Health Care Needs

  • Primary care doctors and specialists
  • Preferred hospitals and health systems
  • Prescription medications and dosages
  • Preferred retail and mail-order pharmacies
  • Upcoming procedures or treatment needs
  • Travel and out-of-area coverage needs

Your Financial Priorities

  • Monthly premiums
  • Medical and prescription deductibles
  • Office, specialist and hospital copayments
  • Coinsurance for expensive services and medications
  • Maximum out-of-pocket exposure
  • Preference for predictable or pay-as-you-use costs
Additional benefits can be useful, but they should not distract from the plan’s medical network, prescription coverage and potential health care costs.

How the Medicare Consultation Works

Tell Me About Your Situation

We discuss your current coverage, Medicare eligibility, doctors, prescriptions, budget and any problems you are trying to solve.

Compare the Available Options

I research the plans I represent and explain their costs, networks, drug coverage, benefits and important restrictions.

Choose With Confidence

You decide whether to remain with your current coverage or enroll in a different option. If you enroll through me, I remain available for continued service.

Texas County residents can learn what to prepare and what to expect from a Medicare consultation by phone or virtually .

If you are still deciding between the two primary coverage paths, read Medicare Advantage vs. Medicare Supplement .

Year-Round Medicare Support

My service does not end when your enrollment application is submitted. Medicare questions and insurance problems can happen throughout the year.

I remain available to help you understand the issue, find the appropriate department and determine what steps may be available.

Ongoing Help May Include

Problem Solving

I help identify what went wrong and which organization needs to address it.

Clear Explanations

I translate plan documents and Medicare terminology into straightforward language.

Personal Advocacy

When appropriate, I can help communicate with the insurance company and follow up on unresolved concerns.

A broker cannot override Medicare rules, force an insurance company to approve a claim or guarantee an appeal outcome. I can help you understand whether the available process is an appeal or a grievance and ensure your concern reaches the appropriate place.

When covered hospital or post-acute care is ending, review the fast Medicare appeal instructions and deadline immediately.

Experience With Medicare—and the People Who Use It

Frequently Asked Questions

What Medicare products can Thompson Medicare help with?

I assist with Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement insurance, stand-alone Part D prescription plans and certain dental, vision and hearing products. Product availability varies by state and county.

Do I have to pay for a Medicare consultation?

No. Thompson Medicare Brokerage does not charge beneficiaries a consultation or enrollment fee for assistance with the Medicare insurance products represented by the brokerage.

Does Thompson Medicare represent every available plan?

No broker necessarily represents every plan. I compare plans from the insurance companies with which I am properly contracted and certified. Medicare.gov and 1-800-MEDICARE can provide information about all Medicare Advantage and Part D plans available in your area.

Can you help me decide between Medigap and Medicare Advantage?

Yes. We can compare premiums, provider access, travel needs, expected out-of-pocket costs, prescription coverage and enrollment rights. Your ability to obtain Medigap without medical underwriting may depend on when and where you apply.

Will you check whether my doctors accept a plan?

Yes. Provider-network research is an important part of the Medicare Advantage comparison process. Because directories can contain errors or change, it may also be appropriate to confirm participation directly with the provider.

Will you compare my prescriptions?

Yes. I review the medications and dosages you provide, formulary coverage, drug tiers, pharmacy networks, deductibles and estimated annual costs.

Can you help after I enroll?

Yes. I provide year-round assistance with questions involving plan documents, providers, prescriptions, billing, claims and future enrollment options. Some issues must ultimately be resolved by Medicare, the insurance company or the medical provider.

Can I change Medicare plans whenever I want?

Usually not. Medicare limits plan changes to specific enrollment periods unless you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period. I can help determine which enrollment opportunities may apply to your situation.

Let’s Make Medicare Easier
